About Pretorian Labs Pretorian Labs is a CLIA certified High
Complexity Laboratory that specializes in Toxicology, Infectious
Disease (PCR), Pharmacogenetics and blood testing in Valley View,
Ohio. We provide innovative diagnostic tools to improve providers'

At Pretorian labs we are dedicated to addressing the unique
requirements of each medical professional to ensure the utmost
personalized service by offering: Toxicology, Pharmacogenetics
(PGX), Women's Health, Gastrointestinal (GPP), Respiratory (RPP),
Wound, Urinalysis (UA), Urinary Tract Infection(UTI) and
Hematology. Overview: Performs a variety of Anatomic Pathology
laboratory procedures of various complexities with technical
supervision while following procedural guidelines. Ensures all
procedures and protocols adhere to departmental guidelines, safety
and regulatory requirements, and quality control standards.
Coordinates with a diverse group of people and skill levels in
performing daily operational tasks. Responsibilities: Retains all
of the responsibilities of a histology technician including
grossing, processing, cutting, embedding and staining of slides.
Proficiency in all of these areas is required. Processes specimens,
embeds and sections embedded specimens using a microtome. Performs
routine stains, special stains procedures and enzyme histochemistry
stains. Mounts, labels, and distributes prepared microscope slides
to pathologists or to appropriate areas for interpretation.
Prepares reagents buffers, solutions, and stains. Replaces reagents
and performs daily maintenance on processors. Performs tests, data
entry of patient and specimen information and collect statistics or
review patient information through computer programs. Maintains
cleanliness and quality of assigned instrumentation and equipment.
Troubleshoots problems with staining and processing systems.
Insures high quality output of all testing modalities.
Understanding of the technical aspects of the staining procedures
including immunohistochemistry, ISH, H&E, Wright and other
special stains is a plus. If this skill is not current, independent
learning and acquisition of these skills would be expected. Repairs
instruments/equipment or initiates requests for
instrument/equipment repair or service through vendors or Clinical
Engineering. Sections frozen tissue specimens using the cryostat.
Files surgical and autopsy blocks as required. Interaction with
vendors for maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments and
possible purchase of new equipment. Development and implementation
of new testing modalities such as digital slide imaging and
cytology. Acts as a resource to internal and external customer
Ensures that the histology department is always CAP ready.
Participates in quality assurance meetings. Other duties as
assigned. Education: A. Minimum of an associate degree in
laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an
accredited institution or B. Education and training equivalent to
the above which includes at least 60 credit hours or equivalent
from an accredited institution that at a minimum include either 1)
24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 2) 24
semester hours of science courses that include a. Six semester ours
of chemistry b. Six semester hours of biology and c. Twelve
semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory
technology in any combination and C. Have laboratory training that
includes either of the following 1) Completion of a clinical
laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES,
the CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS (This training may
be include in the 60 semester hours included above 2) At least 3
months documented laboratory training in histology Requirements:
Must be American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
certification eligible in the field of Histology (HT). 2 years'
work experience in a laboratory setting. We believe diversity,
