Marigold Catering + Events, one of Cleveland's premiere caterers, is seeking a full time individual to take on the role of an Event Planner on our Event Planning Team. We service clients from the company's 12,000 sq. ft. facility in downtown Cleveland, where our highly talented team strive to deliver a truly unique and memorable experience from start to finish. Marigold is a preferred caterer at some of Cleveland's most popular venues, such as the renowned The Glidden House. In addition, Marigold is the exclusive caterer at The Cleveland Botanical Garden in the esteemed University Circle and Marigold's very own Tenk West Bank has become a popular space in Cleveland which hosts weddings and other extravagant events.

POSITION SUMMARY:
A Marigold Catering Event Planner is a dual role focused on sales and event planning. The initial responsibility of the Event Planner is to develop existing business and solicit new business through traditional and non-traditional sales techniques. Once business is secured, the Event Planner will plan and coordinate all aspects of the event while assuring the highest level of client service from start to finish in accordance to the Marigold standards and culture. Our Event Planners enjoy the autonomy to create and build their own client relationships, with defined processes and a teamwork mentality to support them.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES* (including but not limited to):


  • Maintains lead log and attempt to book business through inquiry process and sales tactics
  • Manages sales activities such as sales calls, site visits and cold calling to generate revenue and book business
  • Creates upsell opportunities within already booked events to generate incremental revenue
  • Once an event is booked, works with the Executive Chef as needed to develop a custom menu or helps client select off existing menus, always keeping a solid knowledge of food and cooking
  • Completes all event paperwork such as cost estimates, contracts, banquet event orders, event floor plans and more, based on client needs and best operational scenarios
  • Responsible for helping facilitate collecting of deposits and payments based on company procedures
  • Works closely with other departments to provide solutions and service based on client needs
  • Responsible for successfully managing event staff while onsite at events
  • Provides excellent customer service with the utmost professional integrity according to Marigold standards and culture
  • Handles a high volume of work with little oversight
  • Attends industry related events to network with peers
  • Keeps current with hosoitality and food industry trends

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associates or Bachelors degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or related field
    • Three or more (3+) years of strong food/beverage sales and event planning or consulting experience
    • Logistics experience with a catering company, service hotel or other related/equivalent is required
    • Proven success in negotiating and closing sales at the executive level
    • A track record of consistently exceeding sales quotas and targets over time
    • A positive attitude with a passion for events, catering and hospitality/service
    • Extreme detail orientation along with the ability to multi-task
    • Adept at managing and prioritizing multiple clients and events in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong time management and organizational skills
    • Excellent problem solving capabilities
    • Excellent organizational skills along with being conscientious of the quantity of bookings each day/week
    • Experience in revenue and account management and the ability to generate strong, long-term client relationship
    • Proficient computer knowledge in Word, Excel, and Google Drive (docs, calendar, etc.)
    • Night and weekend work will be required seasonally, with the ability for a flexible schedule whenever possible
