JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Title: System Engineer 2 - 3 Electronic Park Brake
Reports To: Engineering Supervisor - Embedded Controls Products
Date Last Revised: August 9, 2022
Position Summary:
This position will serve as the Lead System Engineer for the
Intellipark Electronic Park Brake System. As such, a high degree of
knowledge of the Intellipark system and the air brake system
utilized in commercial vehicles is required. Familiarity with
functional safety requirements of ISO 2626 and FMEA concepts
preferred. Outstanding verbal and written skills are essential, as
technical discussions with OEM customers will be required.
Excellent professional presence is required.
Essential Functions:
--- Become a technical expert on Intellipark applications at OEM
customers.
--- Develop a high degree of knowledge of the air brake system
utilized in commercial vehicles
--- Support Intellipark-related technical discussions with OEM
customers.
--- Participate in the development of functional safety
requirements in accordance with ISO 26262.
--- Participate in the development of DFMEAs (including linkage
activity of S/C's and C/C's - critical characteristics) and other
safety-related analyses.
--- Lead new applications of Intellipark on specialty vehicle OEM
customers.
--- Support design improvements to existing products within the
Bendix electronic park product line, including VAVE, improvements
to manufacturability and robustness, and development of new
customer applications
--- Interface with the software organization to ensure that all
software requirements are properly implemented.
--- This position includes travel to OEM customer facilities.
--- This position will require travel to Bendix test facilities
(both winter test and non-winter test locations).
Knowledge:
--- Knowledge of vehicle braking systems preferred.
--- Knowledge of Bendix / Knorr design practices preferred.
--- Knowledge of industry standard documents such as FMVSS 121 and
FMCSR 393 in the area of parking brakes.
--- Knowledge of vehicle test processes and procedures.
--- Knowledge of SAE J1939 operation and testing.
--- Working knowledge of ISO 26262 preferred.
--- Knowledge of Vector CAN tools preferred.
Experience:
--- Engineer 2: Bachelor's degree in a related engineering
discipline plus 2 years related experience.
--- Engineer 3: Bachelor's degree in engineering with 6 years
related experience or Master's degree plus 5 years related
experience
--- Experience with Systems Engineering support for embedded
controls system preferred.
--- Verification testing with system and vehicle-level
experience.
--- Analyzing system performance in comparison to federal
requirements such as FMVSS 121 or FMCSR 393
--- Support for embedded controls systems at OEM customers
--- Creating and performing technical presentations for OEM
customers
Skills:
--- Effective communicating with customers.
--- Self-starter / self-motivating.
--- Capable of multi-tasking and adapting to changing
priorities.
--- Strong problem-solving skills.
--- Solid analytical skills.
--- Good organizational skills, capable of maintaining schedules
and communicating progress to management.
--- Outstanding professional presence.
--- CDL or willingness to obtain one within first year of
employment.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic
Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a similar field is required.
A Master's Degree in these fields of Engineering is preferred.
