Kelly Scientific is actively recruiting for a Medical Lab Technician in Cleveland, OH. This position is a contract opportunity for one year.

POSITION OBJECTIVEWorking under the limited direction of the Director of Clinical Operations, the medical lab technician will be responsible for obtaining, handling, processing, and analyzing clinical laboratory specimens to provide medical diagnostic information from patients accessing care. The technician is a term position for one year.

WORKING SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PMPAY RATE: $18/hr.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Obtain clinical specimens for diagnostic testing following OSHA/CLIA standards, including blood and oropharyngeal swabs. Perform diagnostic laboratory tests including chemistry, toxicology, hematology, and microbiology.
  • Match medical provider orders with specimen labeling and sort specimens; checks labeling, logs specimens.
  • Arrange, coordinate, and assure accuracy of reports for delivery in electronic medical record.
  • Manage laboratory supplies and inventory.
  • Adhere to strict infection control policies including universal precautions and the use of personal protective equipment according to company, CDC, OSHA, and CLIA guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by complying with all CLIA and OSHA safety guidelines.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • 2+ years of experience, preferably in the clinical area of a physician's office, health care facility or clinical laboratory setting.
    • High school diploma required; Associate degree in medical laboratory services preferred.
    • Certification by AMT or ASCP preferred.

      REQUIRED SKILLS
      • Possess clinical knowledge and skills in phlebotomy and obtaining and labeling clinical specimens such as blood, urine, oropharyngeal swabs.
      • Ability in analyzing clinical specimens such as blood, urine, saliva, oropharyngeal, and genitourinary specimens for diagnostic results.
      • Ability in analyzing clinical specimens with appropriate analytes and commercial platforms that include CLIA waived or certified PCR, and antigen processing platforms.
      • Possess clinical aptitude to identify abnormal or positive test results.
      • Communicate clearly with medical providers regarding abnormal or positive test results in a timely manner.
      • Demonstrated ability to accurately enter clinical test results into an electronic health record.
      • Maintain appropriate certification and continuing education through AMT or ASCP if applicable.
      • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage time appropriately.
      • Active listening to facilitate patient care along with excellent communication skills.
      • Ability to meet consistent attendance.
      • Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face to face. WORKING CONDITIONSThe employee will be exposed to bloodborne and airborne pathogens. Personal protective equipment will be provided according to OSHA/CDC and infection control policies and will include, when appropriate, an appropriate mask, face shield, gown, and gloves.
