World Shipping, Inc. is hiring a Sr. Continuous Improvement Specialist for our growing IT team here in Rocky River!
The Sr. Continuous Improvement Specialist drives sustainable continuous improvements within the organization, delivering breakthrough results in Quality, Efficiency, and Cost, while building cultural change throughout the organization. The Sr. CI Specialist works closely with leadership and department employees to achieve results.
This position requires strong Lean Six Sigma background and hands-on leadership skills, along with a passion for Operational Excellence, to be successful. Experience with Quality Management Systems and ISO 9001 is highly recommended.
The Sr. Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for managing improvement initiatives within and across teams. The Sr. Specialist will direct multiple projects, document processes and play a key role in influencing change. The Sr. Specialist will lead analyses and audits on processes in order to make recommendations on items such as quality, cost, waste reduction, process reliability, process automation, and efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Evaluate existing business and operational flows, understand as-is processes and develop/prepare recommendations for process improvements and system enhancements/optimizations, prepare to-be process flows.
Facilitate long-term process improvement projects from beginning through completion across various work groups.
Actively monitor project risks to identify potential problems and proactively identify solutions.
Lead and facilitate Kaizen events to achieve breakthrough improvements.
Monitor 30-day follow-up activities and reports.
Establish methods for and complete post implementation reviews and validations to ensure improvements are successful and new processes continue to be followed.
Challenge the status quo to find ways to optimize performance to deliver superior results.
Coordinate with business leaders to identify data gaps and lead the development of metrics, reports and analysis that assist in measuring where we are in relation to business goals.
Ensure documentation of standard operating procedures are current and accurate.
Audit processes to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
Work collaboratively across the organization to resolve complex issues and avoid risks to projects.
Provide professional business process improvement expertise and support to Teams by being the subject matter expert about Lean and Six Sigma techniques.
Work with management teams to sustain results.
Build an improvement culture across the organization.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The individual must be able to perform each essential job duty and responsibility satisfactorily. - The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities needed to perform the job at a fully acceptable level.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR CERTIFICATION
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent working experience
Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt
3+ years relevant experience
3+ years of Lean/Six Sigma experience
1+ years of Internal Auditing (ISO 9001 Auditing preferred)
Experience in large-scale ERP transitions
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure appropriate flow of information.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries.
Displays courtesy, tact and respect when dealing with others.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The Sr. Continuous Improvement Specialist possesses extensive facilitation skills and hands-on experience in continuous improvement activities
Self-starter; ability to take ownership over processes
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple activities at once
A strong application knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques and related CI tools are required: Standard Work, Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen Events, Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping, 5S, 8 Wastes, etc.
This person should be recognized as a change agent, challenging the status quo to drive to operations excellence
The Specialist needs to also possess leadership skills to drive the overall CI process across the facility.
Solid relationship building and management skills; professional demeanor and relentless follow-through in a non-threatening manner
Proven record of working with all levels of an organization's business and technology departments
Strong skills in problem identification and resolution
Excellent Communication skills - verbal, written, and group presentations
Adept at multi-tasking and work prioritization; thrives in an environment of rapid change
Proficient with Microsoft Office
