Overview

The Associate Systems Engineer is responsible assisting in the design and development of highly scalable infrastructure system solutions to meet end user needs across the corporate environment. The role helps to maintain and improve the productivity of our employees by ensuring service availability of our servers, storage and cloud-based systems.

This position is eligible for full-time home-based remote work.

Corporate IT Services are at the heart of Stamps.com's internal IT support model. Our team approaches work as seeing no job as too small or no challenge is too big. Providing high quality assistance to corporate users the first time is our primary focus. Corporate IT supports internal end users with corporate resources including desktops, laptops smartphones and corporate servers. We provide incident and request management services as well as deliver on projects based on internal departments' requirements. Corporate IT services including Active Directory, Single Sign-On, Email, Jira and Slack.

Responsibilities

Primary Objectives:
Design and develop highly scalable as well as supportable solutions in corporate environment.
Manage servers and services in corporate environment and ensure service availability.
Design corporate infrastructure systems (servers, storage and cloud-based systems.)
Develop automation for operational tasks, reporting and maintenance.
Maintain technical skills in a broad range of IT topics and products/tools etc.
Provide IT support and work closely with Helpdesk and Networking

Essential Position Duties Design and develop highly scalable as well as supportable solutions in complex environment.
Work with other departments to define clear requirements and deliverables for the project
Understand current tools (and their capabilities) as well as technical expertise of the team to design highly supportable solutions
Research/evaluate technologies that will improve end user experience or security.
Manage servers and services in the Corporate environment and ensure service availability
Troubleshoot problems, outages and performance issues
Understand the technologies being used in the environment
Periodically review monitoring setup/coverage and thresholds
Ensure OS/machines/tools are upgraded periodically
Implement new features and best practices for O365 and AzureAD
Design corporate infrastructure systems (servers, storage and cloud-based systems.)
Develop new policies, standards and principals as the environment evolves
Ensure system design complies with policies, standards and principals
Implement solutions to improve end user experience or productivity
Develop automation for operational tasks, reporting and maintenance.
Design solutions for enforcing uniform environments, monitor environment drifts.
Deploy configuration management and auditing tools
Create frameworks and standards for operational processes/jobs/scripts
Maintain technical skills in a broad range of IT topics and products/tools etc.
Research and implement relevant tools and technologies for managing and monitoring infrastructure
Keep up-to-date understanding and knowledge of new tools/techniques
Keep up with the latest developments in industry trends
Understand differences in best practices between on-prem, cloud and hybrid deployments
Provide IT support and work closely with Helpdesk and Networking.
Help with troubleshooting issues when escalated from Helpdesk
Provide guidance, tools, scripts, SOPs and support to Helpdesk
Work with Networking to ensure new solutions are able to function in the Corporate Environment

Qualifications

Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science or equivalent experience.
Three or more (3+) years of experience designing and building highly available, scalable and supportable environments.
There or more (3+) years of experience with Microsoft products such as Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange etc.
Three or more (3+) years of hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting.
Three or more (3+) years of experience working with Office 365 and Azure AD.
Two or more (2+) years of experience administering Single Sign-On technologies such as Okta.

Skills And Knowledge
Strong systems architecture knowledge and familiarity with design principles
Excellent understanding of Microsoft Windows, AD, Exchange, etc.
Clear understanding of Networking and server technologies
In-depth knowledge of securing servers and infrastructure
Possesses excellent communication skills
Detail-oriented and able to multitask effectively
Ability to create clear and robust documentation/wikis/training materials
Understand and create network and server architecture diagrams
Ability to master new domains and technologies and train other team members
Collaborate and work effectively with other members of team as well as other teams
Show high degree of urgency when dealing with production issues while staying calm

Computer/Software/Application Proficiency
Microsoft products such as Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL server.
Linux, DNS, Mail servers
PowerShell
