RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for hourly positions. Manages the labor relations and contract administration responsibilities in the plant including: Facilitating a partnership with the union bargaining committee, Sitting at the table for labor contract negotiations -Administering 2nd and 3rd step grievances -Analyze training needs to design employee development, language training and health and safety programs. -Identify staff vacancies and work with managers on candidate selections -Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits -Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, managing disputes, firing employees, and administering disciplinary procedures -Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives -Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems -Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, labor relations, and employee relations -Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates -Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination -Provide terminated employees with outplacement or relocation assistance -Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations -Study legislation, arbitration decisions, and collective bargaining contracts to assess industry trends -Negotiate bargaining agreements and help interpret labor contracts -Prepare personnel forecast to project employment needs a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or a related field, and at least five (5) years of previous experience in an HR Generalist role in a union environment.
