POSITION SUMMARY : The Optical Department Manager leads the Optical team within the surgical practice of Davis Eye Center. This position requires a strong leader with the ability to lead, develop, and motivate staff to ensure optimal efficiency and deliver the highest quality of patient care. Assist patients with eyewear selection, offering guidance on lens options, frame styles, and overall fit to match their lifestyle and prescription Calculate insurance co-pays and enter orders accurately, ensuring timely delivery Receive and verify spectacle orders, notify patients, and schedule dispensing Follow up with patients to ensure comfort and satisfaction with their eyewear or contact lenses Perform adjustments, repairs, and troubleshoot any concerns with eyewear Maintain inventory, lab supplies, and visually appealing merchandise displays Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, ensuring timely patient services. Evaluate staff performance and provide additional training as necessary Assist staff in their essential responsibilities, as necessary Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE : High school graduate or equivalent Previous optician experience is required One year of supervisory experience is required PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT (per ADA guidelines): Physical Activity: Standing for sustained periods of time, Talking, Hearing. Physical requirements: Light work. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform each activity.
