Job Description Job Description POSITION SUMMARY CLF Consultants LLC seeks a Registered Nurse to provide critical care nursing to Veterans in the Intensive Care Unit at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. The incumbent will manage the care of hemodynamically unstable and critically ill patients requiring continuous monitoring, mechanical ventilation, vasoactive medication administration, and complex multi-system interventions. This position requires demonstrated competency in critical care nursing and the ability to function independently in high-acuity clinical situations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide direct critical care nursing to patients with acute and life-threatening conditions including respiratory failure, sepsis, cardiac emergencies, and multi-organ dysfunction Manage mechanical ventilation including monitoring ventilator settings, assessing patient-ventilator synchrony, and collaborating with respiratory therapy on weaning protocols Administer and titrate vasoactive medications, sedation, analgesia, and continuous intravenous infusions per ICU protocols and physician orders Perform and interpret continuous hemodynamic monitoring including arterial lines, central venous catheters, and pulmonary artery catheters Conduct comprehensive critical care assessments including neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and gastrointestinal system evaluations at established intervals Assist with and monitor continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), chest tube management, and other specialized critical care procedures Collaborate with intensivists, pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and the interdisciplinary team on patient management and treatment plans Recognize and respond to acute deterioration, initiate ACLS protocols, and participate in rapid response and code blue teams Provide post-procedural monitoring for patients following surgical interventions, cardiac catheterization, and other invasive procedures Document all critical care assessments, interventions, hemodynamic parameters, and patient responses per ICU documentation standards Educate patients and families on critical illness, treatment plans, and care transitions Comply with all VA patient safety, infection control, and ICU-specific regulatory requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Ohio or a Nurse Licensure Compact state with Ohio privilege Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) with substantive ICU experience will be considered Minimum three (3) years of intensive care or critical care nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association or equivalent Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a VA background investigation and obtain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification from AACN Prior experience in a VA Medical Center or federal healthcare facility Proficiency with CPRS/VistA electronic health record systems Experience with hemodynamic monitoring systems, mechanical ventilation management, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) Experience in medical ICU, surgical ICU, or combined MICU/SICU environments Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) or Cardiac Medicine certification Company Description CLF Consultants LLC, operating as CLFC Healthcare and Communications, stands at the intersection of healthcare excellence and communication accessibility.
