Job Description Job Description POSITION SUMMARY CLF Consultants
LLC seeks a Registered Nurse to provide emergency nursing care to
Veterans presenting to the Emergency Department at the Louis Stokes
Cleveland VA Medical Center. The incumbent will perform triage,
stabilization, and management of patients across the full acuity
spectrum, from minor complaints to life-threatening emergencies.
The ED serves a large and diverse Veteran population with complex
medical, surgical, psychiatric, and substance use presentations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform triage assessments using the
Emergency Severity Index (ESI) or facility-designated triage system
to prioritize patient acuity and treatment urgency Provide
emergency nursing care to patients presenting with acute medical,
surgical, traumatic, psychiatric, and toxicological conditions
Initiate emergency interventions including airway management,
cardiac monitoring, IV access, medication administration, and
resuscitation per established protocols Administer medications, IV
fluids, blood products, and procedural sedation per physician
orders and ED standing protocols Assist physicians with emergency
procedures including intubation, central line placement, chest tube
insertion, lumbar puncture, and wound repair Continuously monitor
and reassess patients throughout their ED stay, recognizing and
communicating changes in clinical status Coordinate patient
dispositions including admissions, observation placement,
inter-facility transfers, and discharge planning Manage behavioral
health emergencies including crisis intervention, safety
precautions, and coordination with psychiatric services Document
all triage assessments, nursing interventions, medication
administration, and patient outcomes per ED documentation standards
Maintain competency and readiness for mass casualty incidents and
disaster response per facility emergency management plans Comply
with EMTALA requirements, VA patient safety standards, and
ED-specific infection control protocols MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Ohio
or a Nurse Licensure Compact state with Ohio privilege Associate’s
Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program (minimum)
Minimum two (2) years of emergency department nursing experience in
an acute care hospital setting Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the
American Heart Association or equivalent Must be a U.S. citizen and
able to pass a VA background investigation and obtain a Personal
Identity Verification (PIV) card DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor
of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program Certified
Emergency Nurse (CEN) credential from BCEN Trauma Nursing Core
Course (TNCC) certification Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
certification Prior experience in a VA Medical Center or federal
healthcare facility Triage experience in a high-volume emergency
department (25,000 annual visits) Experience managing psychiatric
emergencies and behavioral health presentations Company Description
