Development, Inc. (CFDI) is a private, non-profit comprehensive
family counseling agency that was originally established in 1978 as
Black Family Development, Inc. (BFDI) by the Detroit Chapter of the
National Association of Black Social Workers (DNABSW). By
establishing BFDI as a family counseling agency, DABSW sought to
promote and provide quality community-aligned social work services
in Detroit. Since that time, BFDI has grown to accommodate the
increasing demand for a variety of specialized family-focused
counseling and services in the community. CFDI’s programming
includes early childhood resources and literacy development, a
3-tiered juvenile justice service array, mental health prevention
and treatment, substance use disorder prevention and treatment,
R.E.A.L Brothers supportive resources, school-based intervention,
and trauma-informed care. Most importantly, our staff are heroes
who strive to match passion for service with equal parts best
practice to partner with families to achieve their goals. Our
organization is seeking a Full-time Behavioral Health Therapist
with the corresponding experience requirements: Provides
high-quality clinical services to adults, children, and families,
including assessment, diagnosis, clinical formulation, case
planning, and individual, family, and group therapy. Emphasize
culturally responsive care with expertise in grief, loss, and
postpartum depression counseling, ensuring compassionate and
effective support for clients. Assessments, diagnosis, and clinical

resolution Life skills development and psychoeducation Credentialed
as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and Children’s
Mental Health Professional (CMHP), delivering Medicaid-billable
services to youth and families deemed eligible by Detroit Wayne
Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) Access Center. The Behavioral
Health Therapist is expected to serve 20–25 families per week and
maintain a minimum of 25 billable units weekly. Requirements:
Provides outpatient therapy to youth, adults, and families with the
flexibility of meeting consumers virtually, in a confidential
office environment, home environment, or arrangements with
consumers in safe, confidential spaces. Collaborate with consumer’s
and family’s support to develop strategies to assist with support.
Operates from a strength-based perspective and assesses the
consumer, linking to community support, advocacy, monitoring
services, follow-up, and evaluation. Empower consumers and their
families through incorporating the person-centered planning process
throughout services. Utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Family
Systems Theory, Play Therapy, and forms of Brief Therapy that
support the consumers' presenting needs and diagnosis. The
clinician should have a working knowledge of the DSM V. Provides
assistance with scheduling appointments to receive psychiatric or
psychological evaluations as needed and attend specific
appointments to ensure compliance with physician recommendations.
Completes clinical documentation thoroughly and in a timely manner.
Maintains case records and related data entries, reports, forms,
etc., according to established policies and procedures. Makes
appropriate referrals and follow-up, particularly to coordinate
care for consumers. Maintains a minimum caseload of 20-30 consumers
with appropriate transition planning once the clinically
appropriate stage of change has been reached. Performs advocacy
services and links consumer and/or family with support. Attends
staff meetings, trainings, workshops, and conferences to fulfill
required annual CEU’s, licensures, and contemporary knowledge of

Master's degree in human service-related fields that yields
licensure by the State of Michigan. Experience in family work,
in-home human services, and crisis intervention; individual,
family, and group counseling; comprehensive assessment and
diagnostic skills; time management; report and case note writing
skills; strong engagement and empowering skills; determination to
see families excel with provided resources. All candidates must
demonstrate strong computer literacy, strong documentation and oral
communication; ability to work effectively as a member of a
multidisciplinary team, and ability to schedule appointments at
dates and times convenient to the consumer/family, including
non-traditional work hours. Required pre-screening qualifications
include satisfactory criminal records check and other satisfactory
