Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: Technologist Specialty: CT Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evenings Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 1 year preferred License: Associate's Degree from an accredited Radiography program Certifications: CRT-ARRT, BLS Must-Have: Graduate of Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) CRT-Radiologic Technologist Registration - ARRT Upon Hire CRT-Computerized Tomography (CT) - ARDMS CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC Upon Hire Description: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs diagnostic CT exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment. Technologists must demonstrate good clinical skills and provide the best possible images for interpretation while applying ALARA principles of radiation protection. Follows the philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times. Verifies patient identification and physician order. Provides procedural information/education to the patient and family prior to each exam. Acquires an accurate patient history and documents it in the medical record. Performs CT and related patient care procedures using age-appropriate methods for patients’ physical abilities and/or limitations. Places IVs as required for the injection of contrast media. Proficiently operates CT imaging equipment and performs necessary quality control and quality assurance testing. Monitors patients during procedures to ensure patient safety. Ensures STAT requests are relayed to the radiologist in a timely manner. Ensures equipment is wiped down between patients and that the exam room is clean and properly stocked with linen and supplies. Accurately and efficiently uses hospital computer systems for verifying orders, viewing schedules, and sending information. Utilizes effective communication and participates with medical staff, management, technical and support staff. Physical Demands: Seldom lifts over 5 lbs from pallet to waist and occasionally lifts up to 35 lbs from waist to waist. Seldom lifts over 5 lbs from waist to chest and rarely lifts over 5 lbs from waist to overhead. Seldom carries over 5 lbs bilaterally and occasionally carries up to 25 lbs unilaterally. Occasionally applies pushing and pulling force up to 35 lbs. Seldom sits and frequently stands and walks. Seldom bends forward while standing and occasionally rotates the trunk while standing. Seldom rotates the trunk while sitting and rarely squats or drives. Seldom reaches above shoulder level and seldom reaches at shoulder or below. Occasionally handles objects and demonstrates finger/hand dexterity. Visual acuity and color vision should be sufficient for job requirements.
