Job Description:
Seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join the Gastroenterology
and Hepatology Unit at Cleveland Clinic, providing high-quality
care to adult patients with complex GI conditions.
The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Unit (G100) is a dynamic and
supportive environment where caregivers work together to provide
exceptional patient care. The unit focuses on treating patients
with complex GI conditions, including GI Bleeds, Pancreatitis,
Liver Failure, and Crohn's Disease. Caregivers on G100 work closely
with providers to deliver safe and effective care, adhering to a
strict patient-to-staff ratio of 6:1. The unit's positive and
team-oriented culture encourages collaboration and education, with
daily huddles to start and end shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with complex GI
conditions.
- Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care
plans.
- Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients'
conditions.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.
- Educate patients and their families.
Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional
nursing.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American
Heart Association (AHA).
- One year of current acute care RN experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Certifications:
- Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
- Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart
Association (AHA).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart
Association (AHA) Certification (if working in Critical Care
area).
Complexity of Work:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the
ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take
appropriate action.
Work Experience:
- External applicants must have two years recent related nursing
experience.
- Internal applicants with less than two years' experience but
post-orientation /90 day probationary period could be considered
with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval.
- Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments
required.
- Will consider licensed military RN experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion, including handling and
lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand
coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of
time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular
hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally,
and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than
negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective
equipment as required.
