The Cleveland Clinic Children's Cardiology & Critical Care
Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship is an innovative
12-month program with a mission to safely transition Certified
Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (CPNP-AC) and Physician
Assistants (PA) to practice within the Pediatric and Adult
Congenital Heart Center. This program provides a robust
infrastructure to build not only clinical competency, but also role
proficiency through mentorship, professional development,
leadership training, and organizational enculturation. Fellows of
the program will graduate with the critical thinking, diagnostic,
and clinical skills necessary for the management of complex
congenital heart disease, providing safe, efficient, and
evidence-based care to critically ill patients in today's
multi-disciplinary, team-based care model.The 12-month, intensive
training program provides the APP fellow with a comprehensive,
structured transition into the fast-paced environment of Pediatric
Cardiac Critical Care. Fellows begin with a boot camp to review and
establish the fundamentals of practice. Each week includes
protected didactic learning that includes case studies, lectures,
and simulation, all with an emphasis on applying evidenced based
medicine. The APP in the Fellow role reflects the mission, vision,
and values of Cleveland Clinic, adheres to the organization's Code
of Ethics, Corporate Compliance Program and complies with all
relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all regulatory and
accreditation standards.Throughout their training, Fellows are
supervised and developed by department APP's and physician experts
in each care area. Each fellow receives instruction and mentoring
in professional development including a structured, 1 on 1
experience of either development and delivery of APP education or
completion of a quality project, with the option to submit an
abstract or peer reviewed article to a national society. Upon
completion of this program, the Fellow will be a highly skilled and
capable APP in the field of Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care

1. Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certified through PNCB
2. Master's degree in Pediatric Acute Care from an accredited
school/college of nursing 3. Current license as a Registered Nurse
and APRN in the State of Ohio 4. Physician Assistant: Master's
degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program, current OH
license All certifications and board examinations must be
successfully completed 6 weeks prior to program start

DevelopmentSalary & Benefits The fellow will be hired in a
full-time, salaried position not to exceed 12 months of employment.
The fellow will be eligible for the full-time benefits as described
in the Total Rewards Brochure. The salary will be paid on a
semi-monthly basis. After successful completion of the fellowship
and the termed program the fellow will have the opportunity to
apply for any open position within the Cleveland Clinic Children's.
If the fellow does not secure employment within Cleveland Clinic,
their employment will be terminated per the terms of this
fellowship. Employment at the end of the fellowship is not
guaranteed. APRN/PA learns the role of an Advanced Practice
provider under supervision of the APRN/PA preceptor and/or
Physician preceptor for no longer than 12 months.Requirements for

nursingPhysician Assistant:Master's degree from an accredited
Physician Assistant Program, current OH licenseCertifications:NCCPA
certified.Pending Certificate to practice by the State Medical
Board, pending privileging by OPR and pending addendums to
supervising physician's supervision agreements with the State
Medical Board.All certifications, privileging and pending addendums
to supervision agreements must be completed within 45 days of
hire.Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association
(AHA) required.Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through
American Heart Association (AHA) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support
(PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) may be required
based upon work setting.Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
certified through PNCBCurrent license as a Registered Nurse and
APRN in the State of OhioComplexity of Work:Requires critical
thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with
minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment
and take appropriate action.New grads or existing out of state
graduate PAs with pending for applicable state licensing and
privileging.Work Experience:None required.Physical Requirements:
Ability to push/pull patients as part of a team to various
positions, to move/push medical equipment and supplies.Requires
extensive walking, sitting and stair climbing.Ability to obtain
safety precautions against blood borne pathogens by using
protective gear.Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard
precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
