Description

Lerner Tower 9 is the Transplant and Bariatric Surgery Unit at Cleveland Medical Center. This unit frequently treats liver and pancreas pre and postoperative patients, and postoperative Bariatric patients.

Position Summary/Essential Duties:
To maintain the nursing staff in all areas as well as to deliver safe efficient age specific nursing care to patient/families. Essential duties include:

Routinely provide patient care.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
Maintains employee records.
Identifies needs for and provides Staff education/staff development.
Participates in Discharge planning, community resource referrals and education.
Committee involvement, participate with quality improvement initiatives.
Oversees daily operations of unit/area in a cost effective manner.
Involved in Community outreach activities as pertinent Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers and co-workers.
Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
Displays commitment to the mission and values of the organization

Qualifications

Experience and Knowledge:
Meets qualification of 1-2 years clinical experience
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal, as well as, exhibiting strong organizational skills and work ethic.

Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:
Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to patients/customers.
Demonstrated ability to handle high pressure situations with professionalism and integrity.
Knowledge of current technology and equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies
PC and computer applications

Education:
Associate in Science Degree in Nursing (ADN) required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master in Nursing (MN) from accredited program required within 2 years of hire date.

Required Credentials, License, and/or Certifications:
Registered Nurse with current license to practice in the state of Ohio.
Certification in a specialty clinical area or leadership is required within 2 years of hire date
BLS Required and ALS & PALS may be required based on area's requirements
