Job Description:

The Senior Manager, EH&S will develop, implement, and manage GEONs safety program, policies, and procedures. He or she will spearhead and direct department staff to successfully execute all safety initiatives. The role will oversee continual safety improvements and set annual objectives and targets. The role will provide technical guidance and leadership to site safety and operations leaders on safety needs. The role will oversee the development of corporate safety and environmental management systems to ensure regulatory compliance, eliminate workplace injuries and reduce GEONs environmental footprint. The role will also manage and audit environmental, health and safety programs and maintain a close working relationship with all facilities.Primary ResponsibilitiesOversee accident investigations and prevention programs on a corporate level, to minimize injuries and lost time costs to production.Ensure safety program meets Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements and GEONs standards.Regularly travel to sites and conduct assessments, ensure compliance, and offer guidance on performance improvement plans.Assist as a safety technical expert on periodic and special focus audits.Develop and direct corporate level training and communication programs to build senior leaderships understanding and commitment to EHS issues and associated corporate compliance standards.Maintain on-going interaction and open communication with associates, monitor associate morale, and implement ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement.Drive and promote zero-incident EHS culture throughout the company.Key Goals & DeliverablesMonitor results and audit progress to recommend policies and procedures aimed at reducing EH&S risks.Perform EH&S audits and physically inspect all campuses to identify and resolve possible issues.Maintain Responsible Care Management System certification.Effective EH&S culture program managementDeliver sustainability and ESG goals, including waste and energy reductionWork Environment & Physical DemandsNormally works in an office setting, but will frequently go to manufacturing, warehouse, and similar locationsRegularly required to move through the plant: including ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and the like.Regularly perform repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.Regularly remains in a stationary position (ex: standing or sitting) for prolonged periods.Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 55 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Regularly use safety equipment as dictated by the work area, such as: safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc.Regularly exposed to moderate noise levels.Occasionally exposed to high noise levels.Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.Occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, vibration, and non-hazardous chemical agents.Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.Skills & CompetenciesStrong leadership skills with ability to earn respect, promote teamwork, and lead by example.Ability to effectively interact with all levels of Executive, Senior, and Plant Management.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision in a fast-paced team environment.Proven ability to influence and motivate others to achieve results.Strong technical and regulatory expertise in relevant environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements as well as knowledge of and implementation experience with applicable industry standards including but not limited to ISO 14001 and /ISO 45001, Responsible Care, etc.Strong technical and regulatory expertise in product safety/stewardship regulatory requirements and associated management systems and programsOSHA 10-hour and/or 30-Hour training or equivalent training contentGHS compliant safety data sheets and labelling requirements.Hazardous materials/dangerous goods transportation requirements.Emergency response and crisis communications procedures and practicesManagement of environmental remediation projects and/or claims; plant closures, etc.Process and product risk management best practicesBest practices related to unsafe acts and at risk behaviorsIncident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action managementExperience & EducationBachelor's degree in a related field.7+ years of developing, implementing and / or managing a safety program in a manufacturing environment. At least 3 years working in a regional or corporate level role supporting multiple locations. Experience in the specialty chemical or chemical industry preferred.OSHA experience on a multi-state and federal level.Workers' compensation experience.Proficiency in conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.Track record of leading a team to success.Experience leading and working with distributed teams across multiple facilities preferred.Certified Safety Professional or equivalent EHS certifications preferredby Jobble
