Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Program
Manager of Safety Training, residing at our Headquarters in
Cleveland, Ohio. This position is responsible for assessing current
training needs and developing processes and systems to ensure that
training outcomes are being met. The ideal candidate will have
prior experience in developing complex training systems. Have an
understanding of adult learning methods, be able to work
independently at times, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
with complex operations.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Establish an enterprise-wide framework for all regulatory and
company required safety training.
- Responsible for leading Quarterly Safety Training meeting with
senior management and hourly workforce.
- Develop & maintain a comprehensive training needs assessment
for hourly & salaried positions.
- Define training requirements to ensure employees are
knowledgeable & qualified to work safely.
- Implement systems, techniques, and tools to evaluate and ensure
the competency of trainees.
- Maintain a central system to schedule, track, and record all
safety training across the enterprise.
- Provide technical guidance & leadership to site safety &
operations leaders on safety training needs.
- Investigate and evaluate potentially more effective safety
training design and delivery methods.
- Investigate underlying causes of safety training gaps and
deficiencies; and provide solutions.
- Develop & publish training performance metrics that inform &
enable continual improvement.
- Assist as a safety technical expert on periodic & special focus
audits.
- Actively maintain positive joint union/management relations in
safety training.
- Apply modern adult learning theory and practice to write
content for online courses, workbooks, job aids, videos, PowerPoint
decks, etc.
- Design, develop and edit blended learning solutions, which
include e-learning, training guides, FAQs, and job aids to be used
in instructor lead classroom and self-paced virtual training
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with 5 plus years Training, Development and
Learning experience.
- Instructional design experience building and delivering
high-visibility, programs.
- Expert facilitator capable of consistently and effectively
engaging a wide variety of audiences.
- Knowledge of safety and organization development, change
theories, learning models and best practices, instructional design
strategies, and learning assessment.
- High levels of ownership, initiative taking, and desire to
build something great.
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
- Demonstrated, end-to-end project/program management
experience.
- Demonstrated consultative approach: excellent communication and
influencing skills to communicate effectively and credibly, both
verbally and in writing, with audiences at all management
levels.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize data from multiple sources to
identify themes and develop compelling recommendations.
- Ability to work autonomously and effectively in a fast-paced,
complex, multi-tasking environment.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office skills and ability to
produce deliverables
- Up to 30% travel could be required based on role
responsibilities Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design.
- Knowledge of Instructional Design Methodologies (i.e., ADDIE),
Training Methodologies (i.e. Kirkpatrick Levels of Evaluation), and
adult learning principles
