Job Summary
The Director, Construction is an integral leader whose primarily
responsibility is to provide oversight and control of complex
construction projects, remodels and other projects from planning
and design through construction completion and grand opening. They
lead a team of field based Regional Construction Managers to ensure
all phases of construction are compliant with respect to
communication, TA standard, budget adherence and turnover.
Duties and Responsibilities
Act as a liaison for the VP of Construction and as a senior member
of the Construction team for advisory purposes.
Responsible for all aspects of the Master Construction Schedule
with TA stakeholders to ensure project delivery and completion
regardless of direct responsibility or control
Maintain detailed knowledge of all ongoing projects and
schedules
High level of communication with TA stakeholders and keep VP
apprised of any critical items or situations having impact on
project delivery or cost
Coach and recommend course of action to Regional Construction
Managers on issues affecting schedule, cost, quality, scope of work
or warranty considerations
Champion the resolution of site issues identified by the Regional
Construction Manager or key stakeholders to bring to a reasonable
and cost-effective solution
Project management and oversight of construction related activities
through third party consultants for new build and refreshes
In coordination with the Store Facilities team, transition, execute
and manage large emergency repairs from the Facilities team (over
$100k)
Working closely with the Design Manager, drive approval process for
site and floor plans by being the conduit of information flow
between TA stakeholders (real estate, hospitality, IT, etc.) and
third-party consultants
Initiate and track Capital Expenditure Requires to ensure timely
review and approval
Maintain department policy and procedure regarding budgets,
payments and change orders. Facilitate issues regarding payments
with appropriate TA team members
Coordinate with Senior Regional QSR/FF&E Manager for all needed
FF&E to support ongoing projects while communicating any
scheduling changes based on site conditions
Conduct detailed project kick-offs, project turnovers and
punchlists, ensuring all open punch items are cured within 45 days
from project completion
Complete site visits and project review meetings per the published
project schedule
When needed, support both the Environmental and Franchise teams
with project and/or site support
Using file structure hierarchy, maintain consistent and accurate
project files.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction
preferred
A minimum of 7 - 10 years' retail project/construction management
experience. Gas/Oil experience a plus
PC proficiency with emphasis on Microsoft Office programs including
a heavy focus on Excel & Word.
Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time
