SummaryResponsible for developing the strategy and managing the
execution of numerous ad hoc and on-going research efforts. Manage
multiple vendors and research tools, as well as business sources to
provide consumer intelligence and make recommendations for company
strategy, as well as marketing and advertising decisions. Partner
with internal cross functional organizations to understand business
needs and develop research projects to answer business questions.
These sources may include, but are not limited to, competitive
monitoring service, research agency, consumer behavioral research
and retail industry sources and all internal data sources. This
position will drive the formulation of our customer understanding,
our competitive understanding and our marketing
strategy.!!Responsible for overseeing annual tracking studies as
well as managing ad hoc research studies requested by cross
functional partners. Includes quantitative and qualitative research
typically focused on customer or consumer behavior.
- Develop the company research strategy, yearly consumer research
plan and creation of a concise overview of the current and
potential Jo-Ann customer. Manage the execution and coordination of
consumer research projects. Work with external agencies in
designing research, creating questionnaires, analyzing the results,
and following-up with additional analysis. Develop, analyze and
communicate insights from consumer research.
- Proactively monitor and analyze business data from multiple
sources. Build and publish ongoing, accurate and actionable
business intelligence that will support corporate objectives,
Marketing decisions, Marketing partners and provide insight into
consumers, markets, competition, products and trends.
- Partner with Marketing and/or other Jo-Ann departments on an ad
hoc basis to conduct specific primary and secondary research
intended to support a specific strategy, project or tactic.
- Consolidate all data collection tactics (customer satisfaction,
industry sizing, research insights, product and/or customer, sales,
traffic) to provide an integrated view of the Jo-Ann customer
experience to derive high-level corporate findings on correlated
- Design, conduct and report on all web-based surveys. Assist in
design, execution and analysis of testing as required.
- Create and manage all research related budgets. Conduct all
research related vendor Requests for Proposals.
- Provide on-going strategy recommendations based on research and
business intelligence findings that support corporate or marketing
- Pro-active and re-active assessment of partnership
opportunities with external companies and recommendations on their
validity and strategic fit. Create and maintain a research file
library through the avid collection, monitoring and reading of
consumer marketplace, retail, arts & crafts/sewing industry and
general research studies.
EducationMinimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree /Bachelor's degree with
a concentration in Marketing, Business Administration or related
ExperienceMinimum 5+ (Manager)Marketing research experience,
preferably in a retail environment. Previous project management
experience a plus.
