Job Description:

WHO YOU ARE: You are a self-motivated, experienced Art Director who is passionate about driving the creative vision and delivering on our brand positioning through concept and creation of all assets and initiatives in support of brand and marketing strategies that support the digital, studio, retail, and class initiatives. In close partnership with Marketing, you'll move the brand forward by owning the creative process and output that will connect and inspire new and existing clients across all consumer touchpoints. You'll be responsible for the development and execution of best in class creative for a brand that intersects fitness, wellness, and women's empowerment. You'll have a thorough understanding of design, conceptual thinking, creative problem solving-and a passion for storytelling, with a pulse on culture, advertising, technology, social media, current design languages and a deep understanding of the barre3 client.

Key Job Responsibilities

In partnership with the Chief Marketing Officer, Director of Brand Marketing, Director of Marketing, Editorial and Copy Director, VP of Retail, and Graphic Designer you will:

Drive the brand conversation forward and deliver on company-wide business goals through providing innovative performance-driven creative concepts and solutions:
Lead the creative development for multiple channels on a variety of projects and media, ranging from photography, motion, lifestyle content to digital product innovation and retail applications.
Develop concepts and creative ideas that fulfill objectives of brand brief and business objectives of the marketing, retail, product, studio, and digital teams
Lead the creative team through execution and collaborate on production for final delivery of assets
Conceptualize and lead brand, retail editorial and PDP shoots-present visual direction, shot list, casting, on set art direction, selects, and oversight of color and post production
Support the hands-on production of all retail shoots including casting, HMU/wardrobe styling, props, lighting, sets and art directing
In partnership with the Creative Services Manager (CSM) manage workload and creative calendar to support a team of creatives to deliver high-quality content to drive business objectives and maintain continuity in all facets of brand experience.
Source and manage external agencies and vendors when needed

Be a key leader on the marketing & creative team and key cross functional brand champion
Actively contribute to creative ideation and production of larger barre3 initiatives and campaigns
Present and communicate creative solutions to team members and a variety of stakeholders.
Proactively contribute to the ongoing evolution and innovation of our brand and creative practices, brand positioning and content storytelling and through research, development and implementation of new best practices.
Lead a team of creatives: designers, copywriters, agencies, photographers, directors etc to bring the creative vision to life and ensure holistic creative excellence
Foster a creative environment that inspires the team to bring the brand to life through our defined lens while pushing to understand what is new and relevant in the market
Manage, mentor, and advocate for creative staff and provide creative professional development opportunities
Review the work of other designers and contractors as needed, providing appropriate direction and feedback
Create and communicate a clear creative vision and provide ongoing creative direction and inspiration, ensuring the team is positioned for growth through development opportunities, direction, resources, and investment
In partnership with the Creative Services Manager, and Brand Marketing Director, actively participate in the management and optimization of the annual and project based creative budget(s) and ensure projects are produced on budget and with adequate staffing needs

Requirements

5-7+ years of art direction and relevant design experience at a progress brand or agency. In-house brand or high level agency experience is preferred.
2-3 years of experience in people management.
Strong portfolio demonstrating strong creative thinking across multiple outputs (social, retail, digital etc).
An exceptional design sensibility (typography, layout, and prototyping) and strong understanding of creating beautiful visuals with an understanding of business objectives.
Expertise in design for brand, advertising, retail marketing (campaign, email, web, etc.), knowledge of best practices, and a willingness to stay up-to-date on trends and tools
Experience in on-set directing, focused on advertising photography and video assets
Self-motivated, able to prioritize and manage workload and meet critical project deadlines
Demonstrate a command of creative methods, tools, communication, and presentation skills
Has meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail (self-proofing/editing)
Understanding of the fitness + lifestyle brand landscape married with a strong curiosity to continue to learn
Able to effectively collaborate with other team members and is receptive to feedback
Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat
Must possess an extensive understanding of brand campaigns, photography, illustration, print process
