Join us and start doing your life's best work.(sm)The Director of IT Infrastructure will be responsible for building a ground up IT technology team model for a newly acquired patient care delivery organization that is currently being supported by a 3rd party technology services group. The right person for this role will partner closely with Optum and Optum Care Technology teams as well as the current 3rd party to define and implement the go-forward strategy. The role is responsible for all infrastructure technologies, operations and processes and information security. This includes support and day to day operation of on-premise, datacenter and cloud-based enterprise servers and systems at 30 clinics serving patients. It is required that this key contributor is technically current and proficient, capable of hands-on work as well as leading a team of technologists. Equally as important, this person will also ensure the technology team delivers excellent customer service and a high degree of support to the patient-facing and administrative user community, in both local and remote scenarios. A successful person in this role must be comfortable with managing people, setting standards and achieving results. The Director of IT Infrastructure should be continually looking for opportunities to improve enterprise technology infrastructure, security and processes.**This role is expected to be on-site a minimum of 2-3 days a week initially, and within daily commuting distance long term. The headquarters is in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and there will also be occasional local travel to other office locations in the greater Akron / Cleveland area.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be an integral part of the senior team that is working towards appropriate clinical, business and technical integration with Optum
  • Be ready to contribute their current technical skills towards architectural, engineering and system administration planning and implementation
  • Provide management and mentoring to a diverse technology team of systems analysts and engineers, networking engineers, and end user support staff
  • Ability to deliver and maintain complex, interrelated systems
  • Works closely with technology and business leaders to understand and manage to priorities and hold to deadlines
  • Monitor enterprise systems performance, reliability, and capacity and recommend and then execute appropriate changes as needed
  • Act as the technical escalation point for issues encountered by the technology team
  • Work closely with Optum technology teams to ensure security and business standards are met
  • Lead technology projects through their full lifecycle, from envisioning and design to testing and implementation
  • Assure the management of company assets and software licensing inventory, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Oversee end user support, improving processes and ensure a high level of end user satisfaction
  • Manage existing vendor relationships, developing quality and setting appropriate expectations.

    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience (4 additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree)
    • 8+ years as an IT Leader (preferably executive) with a proven track record of leading enterprise scale, complex IT projects / programs successfully
    • 5+ years of experience in managing relationships with senior business and technology stakeholders
    • 3+ years of experience implementing and maintaining security controls, tools, processes and procedures
    • 3+ years of cloud-based experience including operational support for Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services
    • Experience communicating technology matters to business partners, senior executives, and strategic partners
    • Customer service orientation
    • Experience performing infrastructure transformation
    • Experience managing and leveraging 3rd party vendors for specific expertise
    • Experience with VMWare, administering a Microsoft Active Directory environment and subordinate services (i.e. Trusts, DNS, DHCP, IIS, RADIUS, etc.)
    • Able to be on-site a minimum of 2-3 days a week initially, and within daily commuting distance long term
    • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener.       • Technically proficient and possess the ability to mentor technical staff
      • Substantial experience with network architecture, design and improvements
      • Experience managing end user support teams
      • Experience in the healthcare industry, ideally for a patient-facing organization
