Job Description:

Angott Search Group is partnering with a well-established automotive manufacturing supplier in the Metro Detroit area to identify a Tool Room Manager to lead tooling operations supporting metal stamping production and new program launches. This leadership role will oversee a team of approximately 30 toolmakers, machinists, and apprentices, ensuring tooling is designed, built, and maintained to support production schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage daily operations of the tool room team, including toolmakers, CNC machinists, and apprentices Oversee the design, build, repair, and maintenance of metal stamping dies and tooling Support production schedules and new program launches by ensuring tooling readiness Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve tooling issues and improve manufacturing performance Implement preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and tooling performance Manage tooling schedules, workload planning, and equipment utilization Ensure compliance with automotive quality standards and safety requirements Qualifications 10 years of tool & die experience within a metal stamping environment 5 years of leadership experience managing tool room or manufacturing teams Strong expertise with progressive dies, transfer dies, and stamping tooling Experience with CNC machining, EDM, grinding, and die repair processes Ability to read engineering drawings, CAD files, and GD&T specifications Journeyman Tool & Die certification preferred
