Position Description:
Under the general direction of and reporting to the Telecom Service Manager, the Field Service Technician is responsible for maintenance and repair of generator sets and other electrical equipment.
Responsibilities:
As a Field Service Technician your primary responsibilities include performing diverse maintenance and repair tasks on generators and parallel systems spanning 5-5000kw. This encompasses troubleshooting and repairing Automatic Transfer Switches, executing preventative maintenance services, troubleshooting AC and DC circuits, component replacement, and warranty work. Additionally, expertise in diesel or gaseous engine troubleshooting, load bank testing, and assisting fellow technicians with complex tasks is essential. Adapting to various challenges, this role ensures optimal generator performance and compliance with applicable codes. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Requirements
--- Excellent communication skills for verbal and written reports, repair recommendations, and equipment needs.
--- Accountability for time management during jobs and travel.
--- Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record for long-distance travel and potential overnight stays (covered by the company).
--- Proficiency in Microsoft software and good computer skills, including Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, and Adobe.
--- Work from home with responsibility for vehicle maintenance, parts inventory, and security of company property.
--- Effective customer management and problem-solving skills, especially in emergency or resource-limited situations.
--- Training provided, including potential courses in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
--- Attention to detail, commitment to quality, and safety in work.
--- Ability to work in various weather conditions and near moving mechanical parts.
--- Physical demands include lifting up to 75lbs, climbing, manual tasks, computer use, and working in confined spaces.
