Your Key Responsibilities
Civil Engineers plan, design, and direct engineering projects such
as pipelines, tunnels, water and sewage systems. They assess
potential construction sites, check existing structures for
upgrades, and create drawings and schematics of projects using
computer-aided design (CAD) software. A Civil Engineer EIT performs
engineering work under close supervision requiring the application
of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out a
sequence of related civil engineering tasks such as the preparation
of simple plans, designs, calculations, costs and bills of material
in accordance with established codes, standards and drawings.
Applies professional concepts and expands upon learning while
performing various phases of engineering work receiving detailed
instruction.
Use knowledge of general concepts of civil engineering elements
through investigation and analysis, to support engineering projects
such as pipelines, tunnels, water and sewage systems.
Perform basic calculations to analyze and design civil system
components using company standard software and proprietary
manufacturer software.
Assist team in preparing civil designs, drawings, specifications,
presentations and reports, and gather information to support design
decisions.
Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with
applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the
coordination of the project under the direction of a senior
engineer.
Assist the team in providing support services during construction
that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for
information and contract document clarifications.
Perform field work related to construction related activities as
required.
Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Proficiency in Microsoft office and AutoCAD preferred
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to creatively apply technical knowledge.
Attention to detail, positive attitude, desire to support team
success, and ability to function well in a fast-paced
environment.
Education and Experience
Education: Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental
Engineering from accredited institution.
Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of related work experience or, an
equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully
perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed
above.
Licensure/Certification: EIT certification preferred; EIT
certification required to be successfully obtained within 12 months
of employment.
