American Augers, located in West Salem, Ohio is a division of The Toro Company. American Augers builds the largest horizontal directional drills in the industry, and a full range of auger boring machines. • Industrial Engineering Intern support the manufacturing processes in the factory by establishing standards, developing job aids, improving assembly processes to deliver an on- time quality product to the customer
• Partner with production team and work on improvement projects.
• Use the gathered PFEP info to create the Purchased parts supermarket and WIP markets with respect the lean standards for establishing lean systems infrastructure
• Calculate the requirement of Racking, layouts for warehouse storage and work with the lean team to establish these systems
• Work on the Time study, KANBAN card, Pull loop implementation system
• Develop standards, job aids, improving assembly processes to deliver an on- time quality product to the customer
• Data analysis that could help to improve material delivery strategy from Warehouse to assembly line
• Lead prioritized process improvement projects that increase process efficiency and optimize product throughput
• Participate and Lead Rapid Improvement (Kaizen) events (1 week long event to improve processes)
• Recognize and help with problem solving efforts in the plant
• Create methods for standard work procedures
• Work with the Engineering team to develop and improve manufacturing methods
• Participate in work cell layouts activities to improve manpower utilization, workflow, and floor space utilizing Lean techniques
• Develop job aids which include tooling or fixtures or visual aids by working with internal resources
