Automation EngineerAbsolute Machine Tools is currently recruiting an Automation Engineer for our Automation Department. The exciting opportunity offers the right candidate a chance to help formulate a successful department utilizing a range of automation and robotics projects across North America.For technically minded and motivated individuals, this role will provide you with the chance to take your technical skills to the next level while being heavily involved in interesting and fulfilling projects.
Reporting to the Automation Applications Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

• On-site installations and CNC machine interfacing.
• Project completion and customer sign-off.
• Preparation of documentation and user manuals.
• Technical studies for suitable product selection for applications.
• Working closely with internal sales and technical staff.
• Post installation customer support.
• Sales support.
• PLC Programming.The Person
  • Technical competency in industrial automation/robotics.
  • Experience in pneumatics, vacuum, servo, powertrain, conveyor design.
  • Proficient in simulation software.
  • Proficient in Auto CAD and Solid Works CAD Programs.
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude for performing component repair or replacement.
  • Knowledge of PLC communications and other robotic peripheral equipment.
  • Ability to travel, and potentially on short notice.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and budgets.
  • Ability to think quick.
  • Understands and manages external and internal customer expectations.
  • Ability to work cohesively in a team environment.
  • A highly motivated self-starter who is enthusiastic and well-organized.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Valid driver's license and be insurable on Absolute's corporate insurance policy.
  • Results driven.Education and Experience Required:
    • Associate degree in a technical field and 3 years of mechanical, electrical, robotic, controls, or engineering experience; or
    • Bachelor's Degree AND 1 year of mechanical, electrical, robotic, controls, or engineering experience.
    • 3+ years of electronic and mechanical experience.
    • MS Office skills.
    • 5+ years previous field service experience in automation/controls preferred with an emphasis on:
    • Robot programming experience.
    • PLC programming.
    • Ethernet IP, Device Net, and CC Link structures.
    • Interpreting and reading electrical diagrams.
    • Electrical controls and interfacing of equipment.
    • Project site installation and commissioning.
    • Safety.
