Job Description Job Description Head Coach Varsity Girl’s Soccer General Description The Varsity Head Coach for Girls’ Soccer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the girls’ soccer program at Detroit Cristo Rey High School. This includes developing players’ technical and tactical skills, fostering a positive and inclusive team culture, and promoting academic and personal growth. The coach will uphold the mission and values of Detroit Cristo Rey while building a program that represents the school with pride, discipline, and sportsmanship Key Areas of Responsibility The key responsibilities are as follows, but not limited to: ? Lead, organize, and supervise all practices, games, and team activities for the varsity girls’ soccer program. ? Teach and develop fundamental soccer skills, teamwork, and game strategies appropriate for high school competition. ? Build and maintain a positive program culture emphasizing effort, respect, accountability, and school spirit. ? Supervise student-athletes to ensure safety, discipline, and sportsmanship during all practices, games, and team functions. ? Collaborate with the Athletic Director on scheduling, uniforms, transportation, and facility use. ? Manage and mentor assistant coaches and help oversee player development at all levels. ? Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff regarding team expectations, schedules, and updates. ? Ensure all activities comply with Detroit Catholic League (DCL), MHSAA, and school regulations. ? Attend required meetings, complete all onboarding, HR, and compliance training (including Virtus and CPR/First Aid certification). ? Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and commitment to academic excellence. Qualifications ? Previous coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level required (head coaching experience preferred). ? Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals, game strategy, and player development. ? Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. ? Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes of diverse backgrounds and skill levels. ? Must pass all required background checks and complete required certifications (Virtus, CPR/First Aid). ? Commitment to upholding the mission and values of Detroit Cristo Rey High School. Schedule & Commitment ? Practices typically held after school hours (3–5 days per week). ? Attendance required at all games, including home and away competitions, ? Season runs approximately from March through May. Compensation ? Stipend position based on experience and school policy.
