Job Description:

Demonstrate Stepstone Academy mission, vision and values each and every day, performing with the highest standards of excellence, integrity and ethics.Essential Functions: - Engage the learners in differentiated learning experiences for the range of skill levels and developmental needs found in the classroom, managing, when appropriate, multiple instructional activities simultaneously. - Monitor the pacing of instruction and budget class time efficiently by providing clear directions, outlining expectations, and effectively bringing to closure instructional experiences - Establish a professional rapport with students that earns their respect - Assume responsibility for all students within the school, beyond those specifically assigned, supervising in a fair and constructive manner to ensure the safety and well-being of all students - Use data to help teachers identify and group children who need additional supports - Responsible for push-in and pull-out support in planning instruction and/or adaptation of the instructional program using the Response to Intervention (RTI) model to facilitate student learning in accordance with corporation policies and state guidelines - Design and implement specific strategies designed to promote intellectual, social, and physical growth in all identified intervention students - Evaluate and measure the effectiveness of specific RTI strategies and interventions in order to refine Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels of support - Help teachers develop and implement classroom-based, developmentally appropriate interventions for individual children and groups of children to enhance their acquisition of social/emotional and cognitive skills - Support teachers in documenting children's progress - Facilitate the Student Support Team (SST) process with the principal, support staff, parents, and instructional staff - Develop and use instructional and behavioral support tools effectively - Gather and organize grade-level/subject area universal assessment tools and develop assessments for progress monitoring purposes for all teachers - Design collaborative systems to support the sharing of RTI best practices - Provide in-house substitution when necessary and without limitation - Work with the special education staff and SST to facilitate eligibility for special education - Use instructional and behavioral support tools effectively - Employ a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward academic achievement and curriculum goals - Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates these objectives to the students - Assess the accomplishments of students in a variety of ways on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required - Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations - Administer and analyze standardized testing data and adjusts instructional strategies, as needed, to maximize probability of student success - Teach students to work collaboratively to solve problems and to think logically and creatively - Build effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication and available to students and parents for education-related purposesPerformance/Physical Requirements: - Requires long periods of standing, walking, stooping and bending. - Requires extended work hours and work is performed in the school setting (inside and outside), in the community and visits will occur in the homes of the students - Public speaking experience with children and/or adults required - English writing, reading, and speaking skills required - Cultural competency and the ability to teach and work with students and families of varying religions, ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in a non-judgmental, supportive manner - Specialized knowledge of the lives and learning styles of the urban child, firsthand experiences in urban schools, and an understanding of the community from which the child comes. - Confident in teaching, communication and presentation abilities - Energetic and enthusiastic about teaching and the prospect of helping students reach their fullest potentialQualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Special Education Required. Master's Degree in Education Preferred - Intervention Specialist (K-12) Mild/Moderate or Intervention Specialist (PreK-3) Licensure Preferred - Expert knowledge of and enthusiasm for academic subjects and projects this enthusiasm to students - Must have a valid Ohio Driver's License with a safe driving record and valid insurance. - Ability to take and pass a physical exam, tuberculosis clearance and drug screening. - Employment is contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.At OhioGuidestone we care about the health and safety of our employees.
