Job Description









Position Summary: Formulate slurries and other materials, conduct and record required tests, and make adjustments allowed within established procedures to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing with the best possible production yields.Essential functions:

  • Keep manufacturing supplied with required approved slurries and other materials at all times.
  • Formulate, maintain, test, and record/enter data for slurries at defined intervals as required by written procedures.
  • Formulate, adjust, test, and record/enter data for other materials including but not limited to binders, spray wax, LP catalyst, blue dye, and impreg.
  • Conduct required housekeeping activities for slurry related equipment including but not limited to slurry tanks, the slurry "room", mixing blades, test equipment, tabletops, scales, and the scrap slurry area.
  • Assist in other injection related activities such as ejector pin cleaning and injection of test bars.
  • Communicate the status of materials and tests with manufacturing, engineering, and quality as required.
  • Cross train for Lab Technician responsibilities which includes:
    • Sample collection, preparation, and testing on core materials and test bars (including XRD, MOR, SAG, dilatometry, others) for production and engineering trials as required.
    • Meeting daily commits for the heat treat process
    • Calibration of process control equipment such as hydrometers and thermometers
    • Recording/entering of test results
    • Communication of issues with manufacturing, engineering, and quality as required.
    • Conducting process audits as needed.Required Skills:
      • Must be detail oriented and well organized.
      • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
      • Must be self-directed to plan and conduct required activities with minimal supervision.
      • Must have good interpersonal skills for daily interactions with manufacturing, engineering, and quality employees.
      • Must have adequate computer skills to enter data into Microsoft Excel and CQCS.Experience & Education
        • High school education is preferred
